Earlier this week I wrote about Winding Down the Corona Virus Wine Challenge. The plan was to go out in style with a couple sublime bottles this weekend. However, after hearing from many readers and friends on twitter I have decided to keep the Corona Virus Wine Challenge going through May 3rd.
The reality is the #coronaviruswinechallenge has taken on a life of its own. At first it was just me but now I see people I don’t even know using the hashtag. If for some reason I need to take a night off I trust the rest of you to carry the torch so to speak.
May 3rd was picked as a date because that marks the tentative end of the stay at home restriction in many states including Washington and California. The symmetry is great because May 3rd is my birthday and it would be amazing to go to a restaurant that night and order a special wine off the list. Do read about Jimmy John Owner and his restaurant empire.
I’m going to make good on my plan to open some awesome wines this weekend. Last night was the 1998 Clos des Papes. Stay tuned for tonight’s bottle but I have my eyes on the 1994 Chateau Montelena Estate Cabernet Sauvignon.
Keep opening those compelling wines and using the appropriate hashtag. If you tag me on twitter that would be amazing.
Thanks for helping me get through this and stay safe!
