2019 Convene Pinot Noir Russian River Valley – Bottle Notes

Convene was founded by Dan Kosta in 2019. Shane Finley is the Winemaker. Dan and Shane previously partnered at AldenAlli and I have followed Dan Kosta since Kosta Browne launched over 20 years ago. Convene specializes in Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

From Starscape, Sunchase and Campbell Ranch Vineyards.

Ruby red in color. 14.1% ABV. Beautiful nose of red fruits, cloves, baking spices and rose petals. Medium body with perfect acidity. Well balanced with earthy, brooding fruits. Black cherry, cranberry, pomegranate and earth on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. Darker than expected but delicious and well made. This will drink well for years to come. Best over the next 4-6 years.

My rating: 92 points.

The 2022 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is available on the winery website for $58.

I’ve been on the Convene mailing list since the start and look forward to following the wines in the years to come. I also hope to visit Convene on my next trip to Healdsburg.
