Bottle Notes, Pinot Noir

2022 Roserock Pinot Noir – Bottle Notes

The winemaking roots of the Drouhin family go back to Burgundy, 1880. A century later, Maison Joseph Drouhin ventured out of France with the establishment of Domaine Drouhin Oregon, in the Willamette Valley’s Dundee Hills. Today, the Drouhin family’s commitment to exploring and expressing the terroirs of Oregon has blossomed at Roserock in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA.

Roserock is the culmination of a rich and storied family history that began in Beaune over a century ago. Sustainable agriculture advocate Philippe Drouhin continues that history as Vineyard Manager along with Véronique Boss-Drouhin, a graduate in oenology whose post-graduate work focused on Pinot Noir, as Winemaker.

Ruby red in color. 14.1% ABV. Pretty nose of red fruits, baking spices, rose petals and earth. Medium body with exquisite acidity. Light and ethereal. Cherry, cranberry, pomegranate and soil on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. My first time trying this Pinot Noir and there is so much to like here. Delicious, easy to drink and the value is undeniable. Best over the next 4-6 years.

My rating: 92 points.

Look for the 2024. I bought a few bottles at Costco for $29.99. The Roserock wines can be tasted at Domaine Drouhin in Dayton, OR and I do hope to visit on my next trip to the Willamette Valley.
