Kosta Browne was founded in the late nineties by Dan Kosta and Michael Browne and has always focused on Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. The winery has changed hands several times. Most recently Kosta Browne was purchased by Duckhorn Wine Company. The waiting list for the Appellation wines is 18 months long and for the coveted 4 Barrel Pinot Noir there is a 12 year waiting list.
The 50-acre Rosella’s Vineyard rests along the benchlands of the Santa Lucia Mountain Range. Owners Gary and Rosella Franscioni planted the vineyard in 1996.
Crimson in color. 14.1% ABV. Savory nose of red fruits, cola, roasted herbs and flowers. Medium body with exquisite acidity. Packed with rich, earthy fruits. Cherry, strawberry, pomegranate and sarsaparilla on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. Stunning Pinot Noir that really showcases the Santa Lucia Highlands. This will drink well for years to come. Best over the next 3-5 years.
My rating: 94 points.
The 2023 version of this wine will be released to the mailing list early next year.
