Kosta Browne was founded in the late nineties by Dan Kosta and Michael Browne and has always focused on Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. The winery has changed hands several times. Most recently Kosta Browne was purchased by Duckhorn Wine Company. The waiting list for the Appellation wines is 18 months long and for the coveted 4 Barrel Pinot Noir there is a 12 year waiting list.
Sourced from a variety of special vineyards including Bootlegger’s Hill, Giusti, Keefer, Silver Eagle, Treehouse, Klopp-Laguna, Moonshine, Winner’s Circle and Zio Tony.
Bright crimson in color. 14.7% ABV. Beautiful nose of red fruits, cloves, baking spices and rose petals. Medium to full bodied with perfect acidity. Packed with lush, opulent fruits. Cherry, strawberry, pomegranate and earth on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. The brilliance of Kosta Browne is on full display here. Best over the next 3-4 years.
My rating: 94 points.
The 2024 version of this wine will be released to the mailing list early next year.
