2022 Papapietro Perry Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley – Bottle Notes

Papapietro Perry Winery was founded in 2000 by Bruce and Renae Perry and Ben and Yolanda Papapietro. The four had been making Pinot Noir in Ben and Yolanda’s San Francisco garage for many years prior. Ben is the current Executive Winemaker. The winery specializes in small lots of Pinot Noirs and Zinfandels from carefully selected vineyards.

2022 Papapietro Perry Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley – Dark crimson in color. 14.6% ABV. Perfumed nose of red fruits, plums, earth and flowers. Medium body with exquisite acidity. There is a sense of elegance and finesse here that is sometimes missing in Dry Creek Zins. Raspberry, strawberry, roasted herbs and white pepper on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. Charming Zinfandel from a winery know for their outstanding Pinot’s. Drink over the next 2-4 years. $58 at the winery and retail. My rating: 94 points.

Sample provided by the winery.

This is the second vintage of Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel from Papapietro Perry that I have been fortunate enough to try and the wines are certainly impressive. As always, I hesitate to suggest another mailing list but I’ll make an exception here.

The winery is located in Healdsburg and is open daily for tastings. Reservations are recommended. I look forward to visiting on my next visit to the Russian River Valley.
