Gavin Newsom and Gordon Getty established PlumpJack Winery in 1995, inspired by one of Shakespeare’s most memorable characters, Sir John “PlumpJack” Falstaff. PlumpJack Winery sits squarely in the heart of Napa Valley’s renowned Oakville region, surrounded by a 42-acre estate vineyard highly regarded for the quality of its Cabernet Sauvignon. Aaron Miller is the winemaker at PlumpJack.
Straw colored. 14.2% ABV. Pronounced nose of toasty oak, vanilla bean and green apples. Full bodied with perfect acidity. Rich, plush and creamy. Pear, Meyer Lemon, hazelnuts and vanilla creme brulee on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. Delicious Chardonnay that will age well. Best over the next 2-4 years.
My rating: 92 points.
The 2023 version of this wine is available for $60 at the winery and retail. The winery is also a great place to visit on your next trip to Napa Valley.
