2017 Black Kite Pinot Noir Kite’s Rest – Bottle Notes

Black Kite Cellars, a family-run winery, specializing in block-designated Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Founded by Donald and Maureen Green in 2003, Black Kite is named for the beautiful but endangered Black Shouldered Kite that is native to the Anderson Valley. Jeff Gaffner of Saxon Brown is the consulting winemaker.

Kite’s Rest is a blend from distinct blocks of the Estate Vineyard.

Crimson in color. 14.5% ABV. Gorgeous nose of red fruits, baking spice, violets and forest floor. Medium body with exquisite acidity. Incredibly rich and elegant. Bing Cherry, raspberry, cloves and earth on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. Captivating Anderson Valley Pinot Noir that has the structure and concentration to drink well for years to come. Best over the next 3-5 years.

My rating: 94 points.

The wines are available via the mailing list and the Black Kite web site.
