Zinfandel of the Month is a regular feature on Zinfandel Chronicles. Keep in mind that although the Zinfandel of the Month might be an older bottle, the current vintage will be one you can find at retail or via the mailing list.
The December Zinfandel of the Month is the 2018 Bedrock Wine Co. Zinfandel Old Vine.
I chose this wine as my Zinfandel of the Month as I just happened to see it in stock at a local QFC. Even if you are not on the mailing list you might be able to find this at retail. You will be hard pressed to find many comparable Zins at $25 per bottle.
Bedrock Wine Co. was founded by Morgan Twain-Peterson in 2007 and focuses on small production wines from many of California’ s most treasured and historic vineyards. The lineup of wines at Bedrock is expanding rapidly, but I think the best of the best are the ancient vineyard Zinfandels, Morgan is clearly passionate about.
Crimson in color. 14.4% ABV. Intriguing nose of red and black fruits, leather and white pepper. Medium body with ample acidity. Packed with rustic, earthy fruits. Blackberry, cranberry, blood orange and pepper on the palate. Nice length on the finish. Well made Claret style Zinfandel. As always the value here is unparalleled. Best over the next several years.
