New Releases from Homefire of Sonoma

Homefire of Sonoma was founded by Mike Sterling in 2002. Located in Healdsburg, Homefire is dedicated to making delicious Zinfandel. Mike also happens to be the winemaker. The lineup at Homefire includes several single vineyards Zinfandels.

2020 Homefire of Sonoma Zinfandel Daydream Vineyard – Bright red in color. 15.5% ABV. Sourced from Pony Ranch in a 5 year old vineyard on Lytton Springs Road. Pretty nose of red fruits, vanilla and anise. Medium body with medium acidity. Loaded with bright, juicy fruits. Cherry, raspberry, strawberry and pepper on the palate. Nice length on the finish. Charming Zinfandel that could not be more easy to drink. Best over the next several years. $25 at the winery and retail. My rating: 92 points.

2020 Homefire of Sonoma Berry Farm – Bright crimson in color. 15.4% ABV. 61% Zinfandel, 31% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Grenache. Intriguing nose of red fruits, kirsch and flowers. Medium body with perfect acidity. Well balanced. Fresh, crisp and vibrant. Black cherry, cassis and chocolate on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. Unique blend that really works well here. Best over the next 4-6 years. $25 at the winery and retail. My rating: 93 points.

2018 Homefire of Sonoma Old Vine Zinfandel – Crimson in color. 15.4% ABV. From 60 year old vines in Hales Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley. Sublime nose of red fruits, baking spices and pepper. Medium body with mouth watering acidity and perfect balance. Opulent and fruit forward. Cherry, raspberry liqueur, blood orange and pepper on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. Delicious Zinfandel that is just hitting it’s stride. Best over the next 2-4 years. $29 at the winery and retail. My rating: 94 points.

I have been following Homefire of Sonoma for several years and this is without question the most impressive set of Zins they have asked me to sample. This is a winery that warrants your attention.
