Bedrock Wine Co. was founded by Morgan Twain-Peterson in 2007 and focuses on small production wines from many of California’ s most treasured and historic vineyards. The lineup of wines at Bedrock is expanding rapidly, but I think the best of the best are the ancient vineyard Zinfandels, Morgan is clearly passionate about.
Pato Vineyard is situated in Oakley and was planted in 1905. The vineyard possesses a higher percentage of Petite Sirah in the blend (Zinfandel, Mataro and Carignan are present as well).
Purple in color. 14.5% ABV. Savory nose of red and black fruits, anise, baking spices and earth. Medium to full bodied with medium acidity. Rich, well balanced Claret style Zinfandel. Black cherry, plums, cranberry and soil on the palate. The finish is long and supple. Just an old school Zinfandel from one of the great stewards of the variety. Best over the next 3-5 years.
