Kosta Browne was founded in the late nineties by Dan Kosta and Michael Browne and has always focused on Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. The winery has changed hands several times. Most recently Kosta Browne was purchased by Duckhorn Wine Company. The waiting list for the Appellation wines is 18 months long and for the coveted 4 Barrel Pinot Noir there is a 12 year waiting list.
Sourced from a variety of special vineyards including Bootlegger’s Hill, Giusti Ranch, Keefer Ranch, Silver Eagle andTreehouse.
Ruby red in color. 14.1% ABV. Gorgeous nose of red fruits, cloves, baking spices and flowers. Medium body with exquisite acidity. Light, airy and ethereal. Cherry, cranberry, pomegranate and minerals on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. Outstanding Appellation wine from a challenging vintage. I’ll check in on another bottle in 2028.
My rating: 93 points.
Kosta Browne has changed their release schedule but I think the 2024 RRV will be releases this Fall at a price near $72.
