Bottle Notes, Pinot Noir

2017 AldenAlli Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast – Bottle Notes

AldenAlli is a collaboration between the families Dan Kosta and Emeril Lagasse. The winery is named after their wifes Alli Kosta and Alden Lagasse. The initial release was a 2013 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. In 2015 the lineup expanded to include a single vineyard Pinot Noir from Campbell Ranch and a Zinfandel from Limerick Lane Vineyard. More Pinot Noir and a Chardonnay have been added as well. Shane Finley is the winemaker at AldenAlli.

The Sonoma Coast is a blend from Campbell Ranch, Gap’s Crown and Sunchase vineyards.

Crimson in color. 14.1% ABV. Pretty nose of red fruits, cloves, cola and forest floor. Medium body with perfect acidity. Packed with bright, upfront fruits. Well balanced. Bing cherry, strawberry, baking spices and sarsaparilla on the palate. Nice length on the finish. Delicious and easy to drink. Best over the next 2-4 years.

My rating: 92 points.

AldenAlli is just getting started. The 2019 version of this wine will be released later this year. I’m a fan of Dan Kosta and encourage readers to consider signing up for the mailing list.
