2017 Homefire Cellars Zinfandel Firework Vineyard – Bottle Notes

Homefire Cellars was founded by Mike Sterling in 2002. Located in Healdsburg, Homefire is dedicated to making delicious Zinfandel. Mike also happens to be the winemaker. The lineup at Homefire includes several single vineyards Zinfandels.

Firework Vineyard is in the Dry Creek Valley AVA.

Purple in color. 15.9% ABV. 95% Zinfandel and 5% Petite Sirah. Brambly nose of red fruits, licorice, peach and baking spices. Full bodied with ample acidity. Big, lush and jammy. Well balanced. Black cherry, raspberry liqueur, vanilla and pepper on the palate. The finish is long and smooth. Supple, delicious and exceedingly easy to drink. Best over the next 2-3 years.

My rating: 91 points.

Review based on a sample provided by the winery.

$30 at the winery and retail.

This was my first opportunity to try a Zinfandel from Homefire Cellars. I look forward to following the winery in the years to come.
