Bottle Notes, Pinot Noir

2008 Antica Terra Pinot Noir Botanica – Bottle Notes

Antica Terra is an 11-acre estate in the Eola-Amity Hills of Willamette Valley. It was founded by John Mavredakis, Scott Adelson and Michael Kramer, who in 2005 convinced winemaker Maggie Harrison to join them. Harrison had been assistant winemaker to legendary Manfred Krankl of Sine Qua Non. Antica Terra specializes in Pinot and Chardonnay. Maggie has gained further acclaim with Lillian, which is one of the very best domestic Syrahs.

Served without decanting. Light red in color. 13.6% ABV. Beautiful nose of red fruits, rose petals, minerals and earth. Medium body with medium to strong acidity. Flavors of cherries, cranberries, rhubarb and iron. Complex, elegant and extremely appealing. The finish is exquisite. Exceptional Pinot Noir. Drink over the next 2-4 years.

My rating: 93 points.

Several bottlings of Antica Terra Pinot Noir are currently available at the winery. Exceptional wines but aggressively priced.
