Gary Farrell founded the Gary Farrell Winery in 1982. Gary’s eariest mentors include Davis Bynum, Tom Dehlinger and Joe Rochioli. The winery sits in the heart of the Russian River Valley on Westside Road. Gary Farrell sold the winery in 2004 and it is currently owned by investor Bill Price and partners through the Vincraft Group.
Olivet Lane Vineyard dates back over 50 years. In 1973, Vincent and Ida Pellegrini repurposed a 70-acre apple and plum orchard on West Olivet Road in Santa Rosa and planted Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The foresight it took to plant Chardonnay and Pinot Noir on that ground at that moment — before the Russian River Valley was a recognized AVA, before the appellation had established its reputation — is worth noting. It was a bet on place made by people who understood what the soil and climate could do.
Golden in color. 13.4% ABV. Gorgeous nose of stone fruits, honeysuckle, baking spices and flowers. Full bodied with perfect acidity. Rich, lush and opulent. Pear, lemon oil, nutmeg and toast on the palate. The finish is long and supple. Stunning Chardonnay from a classic Russian River Valley vineyard that is aging exceptionally well. Best over the next 1-2 years.

Despite Gary Farrell no longer being involved the wines coming out of Gary Farrell Winery are still as good as ever. The wines are fairly priced and readily available and likely should be on your radar.
