Kosta Browne was founded in the late nineties by Dan Kosta and Michael Browne and has always focused on Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. The winery has changed hands several times. Most recently Kosta Browne was purchased by Duckhorn Wine Company.
Sourced from a variety of special vineyards including Sundawg Ridge, Winner’s Circle, Marshall, Jenkins, Gap’s Crown and Kanzler,
Bright crimson in color. 14.1% ABV. Sublime nose of red fruits, cloves, Christmas spices and flowers. Medium body with medium acidity. Elegant, restrained fruits. Black cherry, cranberry, cola and minerals on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. So much to like here. Delicious Pinot Noir that will drink well for another 3-5 years.
My rating: 92 points.
Kosta Browne has changed their release schedule but I think the 2024 Sonoma Coast will be released next Spring at a price near $72.
I get the impression the Appellation wines are readily available and that there is only a waiting list for some of the more coveted wines like 4 Barrel. Kosta Browne also welcomes visitors by appointment to their facility in the Sonoma Valley.
