2019 Convene Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast – Bottle Notes

Convene was founded by Dan Kosta in 2019. Shane Finley is the Winemaker. Dan and Shane previously partnered at AldenAlli and I have followed Dan Kosta since Kosta Browne launched over 20 years ago. Convene specializes in Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Sourced from Campbell Ranch, Starscape and Sun Chase Vineyards.

Ruby red in color. Almost translucent. 14.1% ABV. Pretty nose of red fruits, citrus, fresh tomatoes and flowers. Light to medium body with exquisite acidity. Rich, charming and earthy. Cherry, cranberry, strawberry and earth on the palate. The finish is long and supple. Elegant Pinot Noir that is aging beautifully. I’ll check in on another bottle in 2027 but likely best over the next 3-5 years.

My rating: 94 points.

The 2021 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is available on the winery website for $68.

I’ve been on the Convene mailing list since the start and look forward to following the wines in the years to come. I also hope to visit Convene on my next trip to Healdsburg.
