Kosta Browne was founded in the late nineties by Dan Kosta and Michael Browne and has always focused on Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. The winery has changed hands several times. Most recently Kosta Browne was purchased by Duckhorn Wine Company. The waiting list for the Appellation wines is 18 months long and for the coveted 4 Barrel Pinot Noir there is a 12 year waiting list.
Sourced from a variety of special vineyards including Kanzler, Gap’s Crown and Sunchase.
Crimson in color. 14.3% ABV. Beautiful nose of red fruits, cloves and rose petals. Medium body with exquisite acidity. Absolutely bursting with dark, vibrant fruits. Black cherry, raspberry, plums and minerals on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. This wine slipped through the cracks as I would not typically age an appellation for 10+ years. With that being said the 15 Sonoma Coast is glorious and can be enjoyed over the next several years.
My rating: 93 points.
Kosta Browne has changed their release schedule and I am unclear on when the 2024 Sonoma Coast will be released.
