Seghesio Family Vineyards was established in 1895, when Edoardo Seghesio planted his first Zinfandel vineyard in Sonoma County’s Alexander Valley. The focus at Seghesio has always been Zinfandel and Italian varietals.
The Old Vine Zinfandel is a blend sourced from vineyards planted on the Dry Creek bench and the cooler southwest portion of Alexander Valley. The vines are on average between 50-75 years old.
Deep Red in color. 15% ABV. Savory nose of red and black fruits, plums and baking spices. Medium to full bodied with mouth watering acidity. Well balanced with an abundance of plush, briary fruits. Black cherry, blackberry, boysenberrry and pepper on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. Approachable now but this will drink well for another 3-4 years.
My rating: 93 points.
