2019 Bedrock Wine Co. Heritage Wine Papera Ranch – Bottle Notes

Bedrock Wine Co. was founded by Morgan Twain-Peterson in 2007 and focuses on small production wines from many of California’ s most treasured and historic vineyards. The lineup of wines at Bedrock is expanding rapidly, but I think the best of the best are the ancient vineyard Zinfandels, Morgan is clearly passionate about.

Papera Ranch is situated in the Russian River Valley at the intersection of Piner and Olivet and was planted in 1934 by Charlie Papera. Most vineyards from this era are comprised of a number of mixed black varieties. Papera, on the other hand, is almost entirely Zinfandel with the exception of Bedrock Block 6 that is the one part of the vineyard with more mixed blacks.

Bright crimson in color. 14.5% ABV. Awesome nose of red fruits, plums, licorice and white pepper. Medium body with exquisite acidity. Bursting with bright, juicy fruits. Perfectly balanced and vibrant. Cherry, strawberry, raspberry liqueur and pepper on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. A stunning heritage wine from Bedrock that really showcases all the best qualities of Papera Ranch and the larger Piner Olivet region. Best over the next 2-3 years.

My rating: 95 points.

The mailing list at Bedrock is highly recommended. Exceptional wines, fair prices and great customer service. Put your name on the waiting list.
