Bottle Notes, Pinot Noir

2018 Fort Ross Pinot Noir Fort Ross Vineyard – Bottle Notes

Fort Ross Winery was founded in the 1990s by Lester and Linda Schwartz. The winery is situated in Fort Ross-Seaview viticultural area on the Sonoma Coast. The winery makes small batches of acclaimed Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and the winemaker is Jeff Pisoni.

Situated on the steep ridgetops of the Sonoma Coast near the Pacific Ocean, Fort Ross Vineyard is distinguished by its high elevation and diverse terroir. Spanning just over fifty acres, the vineyard’s 32 small blocks vary in terroir and farmed to the strictness standards.

Ruby red in color. 13.5% ABV. Charming nose of red fruits, cloves, citrus and forest floor. Medium body with perfect acidity. Rich and lush with earthy, dark fruits. Cherry, cranberry, nectarine and minerals on the palate. The finish is long and smooth. Delicious Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir that is ready to drink. Best over the next 1-2 years.

My rating: 91 points.

The 2022 vintage of this wine is available at the winery for $54.
