Bedrock Wine Co. was founded by Morgan Twain-Peterson in 2007 and focuses on small production wines from many of California’ s most treasured and historic vineyards. The lineup of wines at Bedrock is expanding rapidly, but I think the best of the best are the ancient vineyard Zinfandels, Morgan is clearly passionate about.
Pato Vineyard is situated in Oakley and was planted in 1905. The vineyard possesses a higher percentage of Petite Sirah in the blend (Zinfandel, Mataro and Carignan are present as well).
Purple in color. 14.5% ABV. Savory nose of red and black fruits, plums and baking spices. Full bodied with nice acidity. Rich and fruit forward. Black cherry, raspberry liqueur, blackberry and white pepper on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. The Petite Sirah is at the forefront here and and this wine has an immediate appeal. This may age longer but I’ll drink my bottles over the next several years.
