Bottle Notes, Pinot Noir

2014 Freeman Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast

Freeman Winery was founded by Ken and Akiko Freeman in 2001. Freeman has been one of the great pioneers of cool-climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Akiko is the winemaker. The winery also makes a Riesling and a Sparkling Wine.

Ruby red in color. 14.1% ABV. Intriguing nose of red fruits, sage and forest floor. Medium body with exquisite acidity. Rich fruits with a streak of minerality. Cherry, cranberry, strawberry and earth on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. My first Pinot Noir from Freeman and there was much to like here. Best over the next year or so.

My rating: 91 points.

The 2022 vintage of this wine will be available later this year at a release price near $50.

The winery is located in Sebastopol and open by appointment only.
