Bottle Notes, Pinot Noir

2013 AldenAlli Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast – Bottle Notes

AldenAlli is a collaboration between the families Dan Kosta and Emeril Lagasse. The winery is named after their wifes Alli Kosta and Alden Lagasse. The initial release was a 2013 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. In 2015 the lineup expanded to include a single vineyard Pinot Noir from Campbell Ranch and a Zinfandel from Limerick Lane Vineyard. More Pinot Noir and a Chardonnay have been added as well. Shane Finley is the winemaker at AldenAlli.

The Sonoma Coast is a blend from many vineyards but the majority of the fruit is from Campbell Ranch.

Crimson in color. 14.1% ABV. Gorgeous nose of red fruits, baking spices and forest floor. Medium body with medium acidity. Rich, lush fruits in spades. I would like to see a little more structure to support the fruit. Black cherry, mulberry, cola and earth on the palate. Medium length on the finish. Delicious and easy to drink but better a year or two ago.

My rating: 90 points.

AldenAlli is no longer a going concern and if you want to buy the wines of Dan Kosta you should consider signing up for the Convene mailing list.
