2016 Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Russian River Valley – Bottle Notes

Kosta Browne was founded in the late nineties by Dan Kosta and Michael Browne and has always focused on Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. The winery has changed hands several times. Most recently Kosta Browne was purchased by Duckhorn Wine Company. The waiting list for the Appellation wines is 18 months long and for the coveted 4 Barrel Pinot Noir there is a 12 year waiting list.

This version of the Russian River Valley is a blend from many vineyards including including Keefer, Koplen, Treehouse, Giusti and Cohn.

Dark crimson in color. 14.1% ABV. Magnificent nose of red, cloves, sarsaparilla and forest floor. Medium to full bodied with exquisite acidity. Rich and plush with earthy fruits and minerals. Black cherry, cranberry, pomegranate and earth on the palate. The finish is long and silky. This Pinot Noir is really in it’s sweet spot right now. Best over the next 1-2 years.

My rating: 92 points.

The 2022 Kosta Browne Appellation wines will be released to the mailing list early next year.
