Bottle Notes, Syrah

2018 Efeste Syrah Eleni Red Willow Vineyard – Bottle Notes

Efeste, pronounced like the letters “F-S-T” strung together, was named after the last names of founders Helen & Dan Ferrelli, Patrick Smith, and Kevin & Angela Taylor. Efeste is located in the Warehouse District of Woodinville, Washington. Mark Fiore, who honed his skills at Charles Smith, is the winemaker at Efeste.

100% Syrah from Red Willow Vineyard.

Purple in color. 14.5% ABV. Savory nose of black fruits, barbecued meats, smoke and flowers. Full bodied with super acidity. Tremendous core of rich, sweet fruits. Blackberry, black raspberry, kirsch liqueur and pepper on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. Great Syrah from an iconic vineyard. One of the best reds from Efeste in recent memory. Best over the next 5-7 years.

My rating: 94 points.

Efeste has one of the better white wine programs in the state of Washington and the red wines are also exceptional. The wines are readily available at retail, via the wine club and at the winery.
