2017 Bedrock Wine Co. Heritage Wine Pato Vineyard – Bottle Notes

Bedrock Wine Co. was founded by Morgan Twain-Peterson in 2007 and focuses on small production wines from many of California’ s most treasured and historic vineyards. The lineup of wines at Bedrock is expanding rapidly, but I think the best of the best are the ancient vineyard Zinfandels, Morgan is clearly passionate about.

Pato Vineyard is situated in Oakley and was planted in 1905. The vineyard possesses a higher percentage of Petite Sirah in the blend (Zinfandel, Mataro and Carignan are present as well).

Dark crimson in color. 14% ABV. Fantastic nose of red and black fruits, pepper and flowers. Medium to full bodied with perfect acidity. Plush, silky and well balanced. Blackberry, black raspberry, anise and pepper on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. The wine has a high percentage of Petite Sirah and the structure is notable. This will age well. My first Pato from Bedrock but certainly not my last. Best over the next 4-6 years.

My rating: 93 points.

The mailing list at Bedrock is highly recommended. Exceptional wines, fair prices and great customer service. Put your name on the waiting list.
