2012 Dehlinger Pinot Noir Goldridge – Bottle Notes

Dehlinger Winery is located in the Russian River Valley of Sonoma County and was founded in 1975 by Tom and Carole Dehlinger. Eva Dehlinger took over winemaking duties in 2007. Known for their Pinot Noir, Dehlinger also makes Chardonnay, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah.

Dehlinger Pinot Noir is sourced from the estate vineyards on Vine Hill Road. Goldridge is a reference to the soil type.

Crimson in color. 14.9% ABV. Fantastic nose of red fruits, cloves, baking spices and forest floor. Medium body with exquisite acidity. Elegant and charming. Bing cherry, strawberry, earth and minerals on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. Earthy and delicious. Dehlinger has always strived to craft a Pinot Noir that is a reflection of the soil in which it is grown and this wine thoroughly embodies that. Best over the next 2-4 years.

My rating: 94 points.

Dehlinger Winery has a great reputation among wine connoisseurs. Wine writers have consistently given strong reviews while praising the winery for its uniqueness, quality, consistency and value. About 75% of their wine is sold via the mailing list. Amazing wines that are well worth the search.

  1. I’ve long said that the last mailing lists I would leave were Dehlinger & Carlisle. The outstanding Dehlinger Syrah & Cabernet were long somewhat overlooked, IMO.The great pinot generally lives beautifully for 10 years or more. In 2008 I opened a 1997 estate reserve pinot and was amazed when it took over an hour to fully open. I had pulled it to pour for an Oregon Pinot maker who was a house guest. It was a very memorable bottle. Like the pinot the syrah & cab are much more about balance than power and most food friendly. I have happily been buying these wines annually since the early ’90s.
