2015 Bedrock Wine Co. Zinfandel Sodini Vineyard – Bottle Notes

Bedrock Wine Co. was founded by Morgan Twain-Peterson in 2007 and focuses on small production wines from many of California’ s most treasured and historic vineyards. The lineup of wines at Bedrock is expanding rapidly, but I think the best of the best are the ancient vineyard Zinfandels, Morgan is clearly passionate about.

Sodini Vineyard is on Limerick Lane in the Russian River Valley and was planted in 1905. Morgan has leased and farms the vineyard.

Crimson in color. 14.5% ABV. Savory nose of black and red fruits, earth and flowers. Medium body with medium acidity. Fresh, Claret style Zinfandel. Black cherry, blackberry, earth and pepper on the palate. Medium length on the finish. Easy to drink but I was looking for just a little bit more from a vineyard in such a pristine location. Best over the next several years.

My rating: 90 points.

In the best vintages this wine is bottles as a Single Vineyard Designate and in other years it is a primary component of the Bedrock Old Vine Zinfandel Appellation wine.

The mailing list at Bedrock is highly recommended. Exceptional wines, fair prices and great customer service. Put your name on the waiting list.
