Bottle Notes, Pinot Noir

2019 Convene Pinot Noir SunChase Vineyard – Bottle Notes

Convene was founded by Dan Kosta in 2019. Shane Finley is the Winemaker. Dan and Shane previously partnered at AldenAlli and I have followed Dan Kosta since Kosta Browne launched over 20 years ago. Convene specializes in Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

SunChase Vineyard is a 250-acre wine estate located in Petaluma, California, within the Petaluma Gap AVA of the Sonoma Coast. Acquired by Alex Guarachi in 2013, it is recognized as a premier high-elevation vineyard.

Ruby red in color. 14.2% ABV. Sublime nose of red fruits, baking spices, rose petals and earth. Medium body with exquisite acidity. Beautifully balanced with an abundance of vibrant fruits. Cherry, strawberry, cranberry and Christmas spices on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. Gorgeous Pinot Noir that embodies the style Dan Kosta is best known for. Drink over the next 3-5 years.

My rating: 95 points.

I’ve been on the Convene mailing list since the start and look forward to following the wines in the years to come. I also hope to visit Convene on my next trip to Healdsburg.
