Bottle Notes, Pinot Noir

2018 Aston Estate Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast – Bottle Notes

Aston Estate was founded in 2001 by Fred Schrader, founder of Schrader Cellars, Chuck Sweeney, co-founder of Vine Cliff and Thomas Rivers-Brown (TRB). Several years ago TRB bought out the other two founders and became the sole owner. Aston Estate is located near the remote township of Annapolis, approximately five miles from the coast. TRB is of course the force behind Rivers-Marie and consults for numerous wineries in Napa Valley.

Crimson in color. 14.7% ABV. Savory nose of red fruits, citrus, fresh tomatoes and flowers. Medium body with exquisite acidity. Rich, lush and earthy. Cherry, cranberry, orange rind and cloves on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. Unique, delicious and distinct enough from the Rivers-Marie lineup that I am comfortable being on both mailing lists. Best over the next 3-5 years.

My rating: 92 points.

The winery is still accepting names for their mailing list. Super wines from an incredible vineyard that are fairly priced. Lots to like here.
