2020 Kosta Browne Pinot Noir – Anderson Valley

Kosta Browne was founded in the late nineties by Dan Kosta and Michael Browne and has always focused on Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. The winery has changed hands several times. Most recently Kosta Browne was purchased by Duckhorn Wine Company. The waiting list for the Appellation wines is 18 months long and for the coveted 4 Barrel Pinot Noir there is a 12 year waiting list.

Sourced from a variety of special vineyards including Cerise, Ferrington, Gowan Creek, Confluence, and Narrows.

Crimson in color. 13.5% ABV. Beautiful nose of red fruits, cloves, baking spices and flowers. Light to medium body with medium acidity. Lush and earth with crunchy fruits. Cherry, cranberry, strawberry and mushrooms on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. Tough vintage and not on par with other recent versions of this wine but delicious nonetheless. Best over the next several years.

My rating: 91 points.

Kosta Browne has changed their release schedule and I am unclear on when the 2024 Anderson Valley will be released.
