2017 Domaine les Pallières Gigondas Les Racines – Bottle Notes

Domaine Les Pallières is a 135-hectare estate (including 25 hectares of vineyards) located in the foothills of the Dentelles de Montmirail, acquired in 1998 by the Brunier family in partnership with Kermit Lynch. The Brunier family is better known for their stewardship of Vieux Telegraphe and Kermit Lynch is the long time wine importer based in Berkeley, CA.

Dark red in color. 14.5% ABV. 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah – Cinsault (co-planted) and 5% Clairette. Subtle nose of dark fruits, roasted herbs and iron. Medium body with medium to strong acidity. The fruits are dry and rustic. Kirsch, raspberry herbes de Provence and blood on the palate. The finish is long with gritty tannins. Well made but perhaps a little past its prime. Best over the next 1-2 years.

My rating: 90 points.

The 2022 vintage is currently available and will cost around $62.
