After selling Williams Selyem Winery in 1998 to John and Kathe Dyson, Burt Williams purchased the 40-acre Morning Dew Ranch Vineyard in the Anderson Valley, just north of the town of Philo. He immediately planted 13 acres of Pinot Noir.
Light crimson in color. 13.2% ABV. Pretty nose of red fruits, cloves, baking spices and black tea. Medium body with exquisite acidity. The fruits and dark and savory. Black cherry, black raspberry, pomegranate and earth on the palate. The finish is long and supple. Eminently approachable and in fact I would not wait much longer. My first Pinot Noir from the iconic Morning Dew Ranch. Delicious wine.
My rating: 92 points.
I’ve had Young Hagen recommended to me many times in the last few years and as such signed up for the mailing list recently. The wines are fairly priced and from exceptional vineyards and I look forward to following this project in the years to come.
