N.V. Bollinger Champagne Special Cuvée Brut – Bottle Notes

Bollinger has roots in the Champagne region dating back to 1585 but was founded in the 18th century. Bollinger is an independent Champagne houses. Family-managed since 1889, Bollinger maintains more than 150 hectares of vineyards. They are best know for their Special Cuvée and Grande Année.

Pale gold in color. 12% ABV. Tiny, persistent bubbles. Gorgeous nose of shaved almonds, green apple and warm bread. Fresh and crisp with perfect acidity. Rich and creamy. Pear, toast, apple and brioche on the palate. The finish is long and supple. Really outstanding Champagne and still a relative value at $60. Best over the next several years.

My rating: 92 points.

This Champagne used to be a staple at my house but I found myself buying less with the price increasing over time. I did stock up when I found it for $50 at Costco over the holidays.

Cheers!
