Bottle Notes, Pinot Noir

2013 Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Keefer Ranch Vineyard – Bottle Notes

Kosta Browne was founded in the late nineties by Dan Kosta and Michael Browne and has always focused on Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. The winery has changed hands several times. Most recently Kosta Browne was purchased by Duckhorn Wine Company. The waiting list for the Appellation wines is 18 months long and for the coveted 4 Barrel Pinot Noir there is a 12 year waiting list.

Keefer Ranch is located in the Green Valley appellation in the southwestern corner of the Russian River Valley. The 30 acre vineyard is located on gently rolling hills in an area known to have some of the coolest weather in the Russian River Valley.

Ruby red in color. 14.7% ABV. Pretty nose of red fruits, cloves, cola and flowers. Medium body with perfect acidity. Bright, elegant fruits in spades. Cherry, strawberry, pomegranate and baking spices on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. The best Kosta Browne Keefer in recent memory. The Russian River Valley at its very best. Drink over the next 1-2 years.

My rating: 96 points.

The 2022 Kosta Browne Single Vineyard Designates will be released to the mailing list this coming Fall.
