2020 San Felice Chianti Classico – Bottle Notes

San Felice is a Tuscan wine producer with estates in Chianti Classico and Montalcino. It is most famous for its Sangiovese-based wines under the Campogiovanni and Il Grigio labels. San Felice also makes a range of wines in the Chianti Classico DOCG area. Leonardo Bellacini has been the head winemaker at San Felice for 30 years.

Ruby red in color. 13% ABV. Sangiovese, Colorino and Pugnitello. Savory nose of red fruits, iron and earth. Medium body with strong acidity. Packed with tart, rustic fruits. Cherry, cranberry, blood and minerals on the palate. Nice length on the finish. Serve with hearty food and appreciate the value here. Best over the next several years.

My rating: 88 points.

This wine was #24 in the Wine Spectator Top 100 and I could not resist when I saw it at Costco for a little under $20. I’ll buy more if I see it on the shelves again.
