2019 Homefire Cellars Zinfandel Mia’s Secret Dry Creek Valley -Bottle Notes

Homefire Cellars was founded by Mike Sterling in 2002. Located in Healdsburg, Homefire is dedicated to making delicious Zinfandel. Mike also happens to be the winemaker. The lineup at Homefire includes several single vineyards Zinfandels.

The vineyard for Mia’s Secret is situated on a slope about 1200 feet above Dry Creek Valley.

Purple in color. 15.8% ABV. Super nose of black fruits, baking spice, mint and pepper. Full bodied with mouth watering acidity. Big, plush and bursting with dark fruits. Black raspberry, plums, cocoa and pepper on the palate. The finish is long and spicy. Delicious and easy to drink. Give this a year or two in the cellar. Best over the next 3-5 years.

My rating: 92 points.

Review based on a sample provided by the winery.

I’ve been fortunate to try most the Zins from Homefire Cellars in the last several vintages. The wines are well made and fairly priced. If you are looking for a small, up and coming winery to follow then Homefire is a good place to start. There is lots to like here and I look forward to seeing what the winery does in the years to come.
