Bottle Notes, Pinot Noir

2018 Cristom Pinot Noir AVA Series, McMinnville – Bottle Notes

Cristom Vineyards was founded by Paul and Eileen Gerrie in 1992. Their son Tom became the majority owner in 2012. Cristom Vineyards is located 43 miles from the Pacific Ocean on the 45th parallel and planted on a diverse range of Volcanic soils in the Eola Hills. The winery has focused on growing benchmark Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Crimson in color. 14% ABV. Gorgeous nose of red fruits, cloves, baking spices and forest floor. Medium body with exquisite acidity. Light and elegant with concentration in spades. Cherry, cranberry, earth and minerals on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. Super impressive Appellation Pinot Noir that is hard to beat for the price. Best over the next 3-5 years.

My rating: 93 points.

I purchased this wine for a song on WineBid but I believe it retailed for $35. Cristom is widely available at retail and the winery. I do hope to visit the winery on my next trip to the Willamette Valley.
