New Releases from Homefire Cellars

Homefire Cellars was founded by Mike Sterling in 2002. Located in Healdsburg, Homefire is dedicated to making delicious Zinfandel. Mike also happens to be the winemaker. The lineup at Homefire includes several single vineyards Zinfandels.

2018 Homefire Cellars Berry Farm Dry Creek Valley – Crimson in color. 15.5% ABV. 81% Zinfandel, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petite Sirah. Fantastic nose of red fruits, anise and saddle leather. Full bodied with nice acidity. Big and plush with exceptional balance. Black raspberry, currants, cassis and graphite on the palate. The finish is long and supple with silky tannins. Unique blend and the Cabernet Sauvignon works so well here. Best over the next 4-6 years. Great value. $17 at the winery and retail. My rating: 92 points.

2018 Homefire Cellars Zinfandel Mia’s Secret Dry Creek Valley – Crimson in color. 15.2% ABV. Powerful nose of red and black fruits, anise and pepper. Medium body with ample acidity. Concentrated and packed with fruits. Claret style Zinfandel. Black cherry, raspberry liqueur, plums and white pepper on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. Delightful Zinfandel served at cellar temperature on a scorching Summer night in Seattle. Best over the next 3-5 years. $28 at the winery and retail. My rating: 92 points.

Reviews based on a sample provided by the winery.

I don’t have much experience with Homefire Cellars but there is certainly much to like here. I look forward to following the winery in the years to come.
