2017 Klinker Brick Winery Old Vine Zinfandel – Bottle Notes

Steve and Lori Felten represent the fifth generation of their family to grow grapes in Lodi.  They started Klinker Brick Winery and produced their first vintage of old vine Zinfandel in 2000. The winery name comes from the Klinker Bricks that grace many of the historical buildings in Lodi.

Sourced from old vine vineyards in the Mokelumne and Clements Hills regions of Lodi.

Purple in color. 15.4% ABV. Big nose of black fruits, anise, earth and pepper. Full bodied with medium acidity. Lush and rich. Just a touch of heat on the palate. Boysenberry, blackberry liqueur, baking spices and pepper on the palate. The finish is long and supple. Really big wine from a tough vintage but I think most will really enjoy this. Serve at cellar temperature. Best over the next 2-4 years.

My rating: 89 points.
