2014 Bodegas Alto Moncayo Garnacha Campo de Borja – Bottle Notes

Bodegas Alto Moncayo is a joint venture of Jorge Ordonez, Bodegas Borsao and others, in conjunction with winemaker Chris Ringland. The youngest vines of Alto Moncayo are 35 years old and the oldest vineyards are over 90 years old. Their focus is exlusively on Garnacha.

Dark red in color. 16% ABV. Sublime nose of red fruits, licorice, cocoa and flowers. Full bodied with terrific acidity. Concentrated with plush fruits and notable balance. Raspberry liqueur, kirsch, chocolate and roasted herbs on the palate. The finish is long, rich and supple. Stunning Garnacha that is imminently appealing. Best over the the next 2-4 years.

My rating: 93 points.

This wine is widely available at $35-$40 per bottle. I know you can find it at your local Total Wine. The 2017 is the current release and I suspect the 2018 will show up soon as well. I’m a buyer.
