2018 Brady Vineyard Zinfandel – Bottle Notes

Brady Vineyard is located in Paso Robles, California. Don Brady is the owner and winemaker. The 24 acre vineyard was planted in 2001 overlooking the Estrella River. The winery produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel and Petite Sirah.

I had never heard of the winery before but was intrigued when the 2018 Zinfandel was one of the top 20 wines of the year at Wine Enthusiast.

Crimson in color. 15% ABV. Unique nose of black fruits, citrus, plums and pepper. Full bodied with ample acidity. Modern in style. Young and still primary. Terrific balance. Black cherry liqueur, raspberry compote, blood orange and pepper on palate. Exceptional length on the finish. Just a fantastic Zinfandel that needs a little more time in the bottle to really shine. Best over the next 3-5 years.

My rating: 93 points.

I really enjoyed this wine. It is interesting as your palate needs to calibrate slightly when you are accustomed to drinking Zins from heritage vineyards. With that in mind though I bought a few more bottles and look forward to following this Zin in the years to come.

The wine appears to be hard to find. From what I can tell you can’t buy it on the winery website so you might have to call the winery. I secured my bottles at K&L for just $18 per bottle. Great Zin for a song!
