2016 Bodegas Alto Moncayo Garnacha Campo de Borja – Bottle Notes

Bodegas Alto Moncayo is a joint venture of Jorge Ordonez, Bodegas Borsao and others, in conjunction with winemaker Chris Ringland. The youngest vines of Alto Moncayo are 35 years old and the oldest vineyards are over 90 years old. Their focus is exlusively on Garnacha.

Purple in color. 16% ABV. Sublime nose of blue and black fruits, Whitman Sampler box and anise. Medium body with ample acidity. Well balanced, smooth and polished. Blueberry, black cherry liqueur and baking spices on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. Tremendous wine that is an absolute delight to drink. Best over the next 2-4 years.

My rating: 93 points.

This wine is widely available at $35-$40 per bottle. I know you can find it at your local Total Wine. The 2017 is the current release and I suspect the 2018 will show up soon as well. I’m a buyer.
