Ponzi Vineyards was founded by Dick and Nancy Ponzi in 1970 in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. The winery, along with other iconic Oregon wineries like Eyrie, Adelsheim and Sokol Blosser, paved the way for what is now one of the most exciting Pinot Noir regions in the world. Ponzi produces a number of wines including Chardonnay and Pinot Gris, but it is the Reserve Pinot Noir that receives the most acclaim.
Crimson red in color. 13.6% ABV. Clove, spice and black cherry on the nose. Exotic and rich with light acidity. Cherries, strawberry, cola, cedar and cinnamon on the palate. The finish on the wine is super. Oregon Pinot Noir at its very best. Drink over the next 3-5 years.
My rating: 92 points.
The current vintage of Ponzi Reserve runs around $65 and can be purchased directly from the winery or through your favorite local wine shop.
