2019 Black Kite Pinot Noir Angel Hawk Anderson Valley – Bottle Notes

Black Kite Cellars, a family-run winery, specializing in block-designated Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Founded by Donald and Maureen Green in 2003, Black Kite is named for the beautiful but endangered Black Shouldered Kite that is native to the Anderson Valley. Jeff Gaffner of Saxon Brown is the consulting winemaker.

Angel Hawk is made from the best blocks of the Estate Vineyard in Anderson Valley.

Crimson in color. 14.5% ABV. Gorgeous nose of red fruits, cloves, forest floor and flowers. Medium body with exquisite acidity. Lush, rich and earthy. Black cherry, cranberry, black tea and minerals on the palate. The finish is long and supple. This Pinot Noir is really well made and speaks to the Anderson Valley terroir in such a perfect way. Best over the next 2-4 years.

My rating: 92 points.

The wines are available via the mailing list and the Black Kite web site.
