Holocene was founded by Todd and Carrie Alexander in 2015. Todd, of course, is the winemaker at Force Majeure and prior to that at Bryant Family Vineyards. Holocene makes two Pinots, a Syrah and a Pinot Gris.
Dark crimson in color. 14.4% ABV. Subdued nose of red fruits, baking spices and flowers. Medium body with exquisite acidity. Bursting with plush, dark fruits. Black cherry, cranberry, earth and minerals on the palate. Nice length on the finish. If I close my eyes and think about an Oregon Pinot Noir made by a winemaker who specializes in Washington Rhone varieties, this is what I envision. This should drink well for years to come.
My rating: 93 points.
The best way to secure the Holocene wines is via the mailing list. I will be purchasing the upcoming release of the 2021 Pinot Noirs.
