Seghesio Family Vineyards was established in 1895, when Edoardo Seghesio planted his first Zinfandel vineyard in Sonoma County’s Alexander Valley. The focus at Seghesio has always been Zinfandel and Italian varietals.
Purple in color. 15% ABV. Prominent nose of black fruits, anise and vanilla. Full bodied with ample acidity. Big, young and primary. Blackberry, black cherry, plums and pepper on the palate. Hard to go wrong here but I did slightly prefer the 2019 version which is still available. Best over the next 2-4 years.
My rating: 90 points.
This wine is readily available at retail. A solid value year in and year out. I found this bottle at Safeway for $25 but in the past Costco has been sub $20 on their pricing. You also might want to consider some single vineyard Zinfandels from Seghesio including the Pagani and Rockpile.
