Domaine de Ferrand was founded in 1960 by Charles Bravay. Philippe Bravay launched bottling directly at the winery when he took over the domaine from his father in 1995. Since 1997, a large part of the wine produced has been sold under the brand name of Domaine de Ferrand.
The wine is primarily composed of Grenache with small amounts of Syrah, Mourvedre, and Cinsault.
Crimson in color. 14.5% ABV. Reticent nose of red fruits, garrigue and flowers. Medium body with perfect acidity. Fresh and charming. Cherries, kirsch, plums and roasted herbs on the palate. The finish is long and supple. Really nice showing for this wine in an average vintage. Best over the next 2-3 years.
My rating: 91 points.
Domaine Ferrand is high quality and fairly priced. Look for the exceptional 2018 for about $60.
